Access Denied - SQLSERVER 2005 Integration Services

Hi:

I am getting access denied error "cannot connect to server" while trying to connect Integration Services. I am trying to connect from my laptop to the SQLSERVER database server.

I followed the document "Connecting to a Remove Intergration Services Server" , doc id: aa337083.

But I can connect to IS if I log remotely to the server.

Any thoughts on this ?

Thanks

Access Denied

Hi, i'm facing a problem, I have SQL Server 2000 instaled, the problem is when I try to connect using another computer, it can see the server, but when I try to connect i receive a Access Denied message. My TCP port is opened, and I can enter in the remote server using Query Analyzer, but I can't start the server using SQL Server Service Manager.

What is the problem?

Thanks.

Hi, I discovered what was wrong, I created a New Server Registration and added the remote computer on it.

Now everything is working fine. Smile

Access DB

I am trying to connect to an access database using Reportin Services 2000.
I can develop the reports just fine on my local computer, and I can get to
the file from the server. However, when I try to connect I get a path not
found error. I tried to connect with no username password and using admin,
but again I get an invalid path. So I tried to set up a DSN. It worked
just fine, but when I reference the ODBC drivers and the DSN I get no ISAM
drivers installed and path errors as well. I am logged into the machine as
admin and have full rights.
Any suggestions?
John WrightNevermind I found the problem.

Access database problem

Hi, I have problem connecting SQL2000 database.

I have installed .NetFramework 1.1 before and I got (local)\NetSDK instance name. I can connect any database under without any problem. However, I recently installed another database "Costoco" into the same instance from a bak file. And I try to connect it but it fails. I run a webapplication and use datagrid to show a table and the error message is following:

Cannot open database requested in login 'Costoco'. Login fails. Login failed for user 'AARON-HOME\ASPNET'

I checked ASPNET user and I even add this user to access the whole folder of the instance in Program files/SQLserver, it still happens.

I have no idea, and could any one help me?

Thanks.

It seems that the login have not been granted access to the new database. Please click 'Start'->'All Programs'->'Microsoft SQL Server'->'Enterprise Manager'. In EM, choose the 'NetSDK'instance, explore Security->Logins, find the login used in your application, double click it. In the Properties window, goto Data Access pannel, make sure the check box of the new database selected. Click 'ok' to save your change, then try again.|||Thanks a lot, It works!!!

Access Database connection error in ADS Wizard

Hi,

I'm using (or trying) ADS, the connection with SQL CE database is ok, but when a trie to connect with an Access Database, wizard show me the message:

"Unspecified error [sqlceca30.dll]"

and after

"Error connecting to Access database"

any idea?

Thanks in advance.

Did you enable the ADS port in the Windows firewall settings as described in the readme?

What version of Desktop OS, Client OS and SSCE are you using?

|||

Yes, i enabled de port, in fact I deacivate firewall. But I change the sqlce30.repl.ppc.wce4.armv4.cab file, install it in my PDA with Windows Mobile 5.0 OS 5.1.195, .Net CF 2.0, SQL Server 2005 CE and now only show me a blank message , an after that "Error connectiong to Access database" message

In Desktop i use XP Professional with SP 2, and v3.1 on SSCE.

Access connection to SQL Server

I have had requests form users who would like to use MS Access to connect to
a SQL Server. Are there any security or other issues that would be relevant
to this approach?
RodRod,
This can be slow when linking to and working with large SQL tables (i.e.,
many rows).

You can use an ODBC link which would require setting up user accounts and
respective permissions/roles to use and manipulate (update/delete/insert/run
)
sql server objects like Databases, tables, stored procedures.
For large tables, it would be more efficient to retrieve data into MS Access
by calling a Sql Server Stored Procedure with parameters using COM ADO and
populate tables in Access with the retrieved data. You would write the
routines in Access in a code module using VBA. But you would still have to
define a user role for connecting to the Sql Server. For example, you don't
want people connecting to Sql Server using an SA account (system
administrator). That would give everyone access to everything, and they
could do anything. Instead, you have to define a user role which would limi
t
access to respective databases like User1, who can read tbl1, tbl2, ... can
run SP1, SP2, ... in database1 but not database2
User2 can read/write to tables and run SPs in database1 but not database2,
and so on.

Access connection count at the same time

I want to learn access connection gives how many user to connect at the same time.

http://www.narcv.com/

Access is mainly limited through the performance of the server, the logical limit is AFAICR 32767, but in most cases you will be throttled through the physical limitations of the server. if you have conneciton pooling on the client side enabled, and you will go through the pool, you will be limited on the client side to the numbers of connections specified for the pool.

Access and MSDE

MSDE works fine and i'm able to connect from everywhere i want to, but there is still a little problem in my f* configuration. I'm not able to update or insert any data in the database from MS Access. Using osql or Java with JDBC or any other I'm able to do so, but not in Access.

In past, I had a situation like this - tables on SQL Server (MSDE) did not have primary keys or unique indexes. It sounds stupid but...|||Ok, it's stupid without any primary key, but i want to know why i can't update any table? I can just read data via access and i need a solution.

bye|||Access needs a Primary key on the linked table (the table in MSDE). Without it, it cannot issue update or insert commands. Put a Primary Key on your SQL table, re-link the tables in Access and that should do it for you.

10060 is a timeout problem. Make sure that you don't have firewall issues
between the client and server. Even personal firewalls on the Server will
block this traffic by default.

as regard MSDE by it self, there's no problem at all... this was a problem
with SQL Server 7.0/MSDE 1.0 but it is no longer the case...
you can have now problems regarding ie: the registration on Enterprise
Manager, and, re-registering servers on Enterprise Manager UI will solve EM
problems..
or, of course, net problems due to not resolved computer names for firewall
as well...

Access 2000 forms record count wont show

I have a SQL Server 2000 backend with an Access 2000 .mdb frontend using ODBC to connect to the SQL tables.

I have forms with their Recordsource set to the SQL tables but when I open the forms, the total record count isn't shown beside the record navigator unless I click to go to the end of the recordset. I really need the record count to show up.

HELP!This question really belongs in the Acces forum, but try creating an On Open event in your form with this code:

Private Sub Form_Open(Cancel As Integer)
DoCmd.GoToRecord , , acLast
DoCmd.GoToRecord , , acFirst
End Sub

About the sql 2005 client software

Hello,

Assume that I have a ms sql 2005 server running,

and the clients wants to connect to the database through their Windows XP desktops,

is there any sql 2005 client software that can install on the clients desktop for them to use? (e.g. like MySQLFront or PLSQL)

so that they can input sql statement or store procedure on the client side to make query to the database.

Does any things should notice during installation?

Thanks for helping!!

Ah, if you write a program (or use a program) that can create an OLE DB or .NET SqlClient connection, you can connect to SQL Server 2005--assuming that it's enabled to see the LAN (it's disabled by default). Even VB6 or older programs can use the SQL Native Client with an OLE DB-enabled application to connect to SQL Server 2005.

Hi William,

Do you know is this possible for using a free Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition as a client side interface, intall it on Windows XP. Use it to connect to a sql 2005 standard server to make query and update information on table or views, by using the user's sql login name & password of the sql 2005 standard server to authenticate.

Or I must use win2003 remote desktop with terminal server client license to let the users to remote to the sql 2005 standard server directly & logon locally to achieve this goal.

Thanks!

|||Again, this is a very fundemental question that can best be addressed by some research. No, you don't need SQL Server Express edition installed on the client systems if you intend to write (or use) and application that connects to a remote server. Try picking up a copy of my Hitchhiker's Guide to Visual Basic and SQL Server 6th Edition that discusses these basic concepts.

About The Connect to Server Dialog

In server name column, it apears all the server name that i uesed before, but some of them are not available now, how do I remove them?

There isn't a way to be very surgical about this, but you can use the "big hammer" approach and delete the mru.dat file in C:\Documents and Settings\{you}\Application Data\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server\90\Tools\Shell. This obliterates the most-recently-used list of servers. The connection dialog will create a new mru.dat file the next time you connect to a server.

About AMO

I write web service with .NET 2.0.

It's using AMO to connect SQL Server 2005 and show counts of database.

When I excute the program under debug mode in my computer for testing,it's showing the correct counts.

But when I establish this web in the server,and browse it to use, the showing counts is zero.

Could some tell me why?

Thanks~

Server OS: Windows 2003

My Computer OS: Windows XP

follow is program:

Code Snippet

<WebMethod()> _
Public Function Test() As String
Dim ConnectServer As New Server
Dim tmp As String
ConnectServer.Connect("Data Source = olapdw;Provider = MSOLAP;")

tmp = ConnectServer.Databases.Count
ConnectServer.Disconnect()
ConnectServer.Dispose()
Return tmp

End Function

It's most likely a security / authentication issue. AMO uses windows authentication, so running on your local machine might be running under your account. So it probably depends on what account is configured to run the application pool that your web service is running under. You can set up impersonation, but if the web service and IIS are on separate machines, you need to configure Kerberos authentication.

You also do not use a connection string for AMO, the connect string only needs a server name.

eg.

ConnectServer.Connect("olapdw")

Thanks, my problem has already resolved.
